(I) Installation

1. The mud pump should be kept horizontal, and the horizontal deviation should not exceed 3 mm, so as to facilitate the normal oil supply of the lubricating oil channel at the power end during operation and ensure the normal operation of the driving V-belt; the requirements for chain transmission are more stringent, requiring the large and small sprockets of the pump to be installed on the same base, and rigid connection should be made when they are on different bases.

2. The position of the pump should be as low as possible, and the position of the mud tank should be as high as possible to facilitate suction.

3. The suction pipe of the pump is best to use a hose with a minimum diameter of 250mm. The length is between 2.1 and 3.8 meters, straight without 900 sharp bends, to reduce friction and inertia loss in the suction pipe.

4. The connection between the suction pipe and the mud tank cannot be directly below the mud when it returns to the tank, so as to avoid sucking in the sediment at the bottom of the tank.

5. Firmly support all suction and discharge pipelines, do not let them bear additional external loads, and reduce vibration. Pipelines must never be hung on the pump due to insufficient support.

6. The suction system cannot allow any air leakage, which is a major issue related to whether the mud pump can work normally.

(II) Startup

1. When starting a new pump or an old pump that has been out of service for a long time, you must first clean the power end oil pan, lubricating oil tank, oil channel and the space around the crosshead, add CKC320 or CKC220 medium-load extreme pressure industrial gear oil, and open the inspection covers before starting, add oil to the pinion, bearing, and crosshead oil tank to lubricate all friction surfaces of the pump before starting.

2. Check whether the spray pump, water tank, and spray pipe are clean and normal. When tap water cooling is used as a last resort, the water pressure must be greater than 0.5Kg, and the cooling water volume per mud pump per hour must not be less than 6 cubic meters. The higher the ambient temperature and the higher the pump pressure, the more cooling water should be used. The outer wall of the cylinder sleeve should be touched frequently to understand the heat dissipation of the cylinder sleeve. It is generally appropriate to feel cool. If circulating water is used, the water inlet temperature should not exceed 20°C after sedimentation, filtration and natural cooling.

3. Tighten the main bearing gland bolts of the crankshaft at the power end and all fasteners on the valve box; there should be no leakage at the sealing parts of the bellows, pump intermediate rod and positioning plate to prevent cooling water from entering the power end.

4. Check whether all valves on the mud pipeline are in the correct operating state before starting.

5. Check whether the inflation pressure of the pre-pressurized air bag meets the requirements.

6. Check whether the pump pressure gauge and safety valve (especially the safety pin) are normal.

7. Open the valve cover, fill the suction valve box with clean water or mud, and remove the air.

8. Slowly increase the pump speed when starting to avoid cavitation in the cylinder.

9. When the mud density is high, the gas content is high, and the viscosity is high, the pump should be operated at medium or low speed as much as possible to avoid poor suction.

10. Immediately after starting, inspect the drilling pump. If abnormal local temperature rise, abnormal noise, or air leakage in the suction pipe is found, stop the pump immediately, find out the cause, and make corrections.

(III) Operation

1. The trick to make the three-cylinder single-acting drilling pump perform well in operation is: use the largest piston possible while meeting the pump pressure requirements; use the lowest possible pump speed (strokes/minute) while meeting the displacement requirements. In other words, under the premise of meeting the drilling process requirements, within the allowable range of the drilling pump's technical performance, try to use a large piston and a low pump speed.

2. Carefully observe whether the cylinder sleeve moves back and forth and whether the piston rod clamp makes noise during reciprocating motion. If abnormal conditions are found, deal with them quickly. Check and tighten the fasteners of each part in time.

3. Check whether there are leaks in each high-pressure sealing part, whether the pump valve has punctures or abnormal impact sounds, and deal with it in time if any abnormal situation is found.

4. Pay close attention to changes in pump pressure. If the pump pressure fluctuates sharply, rises or falls suddenly, find out the cause quickly and deal with it properly.

5. Pay attention to the lubrication, temperature rise and cooling of the operating parts (especially the bearing parts), check whether the lubricating oil and cooling water are deteriorating, and if any abnormal situation is found, find out the cause and take measures.

6. Pay attention to whether the sound of each operating part is normal.

7. It is strictly forbidden to use two pistons of different diameters in a three-cylinder pump, or to use a three-cylinder pump as a two-cylinder pump.

8. Overload operation is strictly prohibited. When operating below 80% of the rated power and below 75% of the rated maximum pump pressure, it is the best operating state.

9. Avoid long-term operation below 50% of the rated power and below 100 atmospheres of pump pressure, because the mechanical efficiency of the drilling pump will drop sharply at this time, which is an uneconomical operating state.

This series of drilling pumps are allowed to operate continuously when operating according to the above recommended operating parameters, and their reliability and economy can be fully guaranteed.

10. The basic points for the normal operation of drilling pumps are: three "medium", three "no", and two "normal".

Three "medium": medium power, medium pump pressure, and medium speed operation;

Three "no": no loosening of fastening, no leakage of seals, and no fluctuation of pump pressure;

Two "normal": normal temperature and normal sound.
