To meet API RP 13C compliance, two tests are required: cut point and conductance.
API RP 13C allows the end user to compare by cut point, conductance (fluid flow), and non-blank open area. The cut point test is based on ASTM's time-proven test method for classifying particles by size. Shaker designations are identified by matching the cut point of the sieve to the nearest ASTM sieve cut point.
D100 separators are used to assign screen names. D100 means that 100% of particles larger than the test screen will be retained and all finer particles will pass through. Conductometric tests measure the ability of fluid to pass through the screen. The non-blank open area of the screen describes the net unobstructed area (in square meters or square feet) available to allow fluid to pass through.
After the cut point and conductance have been determined, API RP 13C requires the application of a permanent label or label on a visible and legible screen. The cut point in API number and the conductance in kD/mm are required on the screen label.
